Family-run and spray-free, Hammersley has been supplying area berry lovers with fresh Duke blueberries since 2014. The Valley is well known for its corn, so of course, we have to include the time-honoured summer tradition that exercises the mind and body in equal measure—the corn maze! These are all great ways to spend the day with family, or maybe even a date (just be sure you stick together!). Never too challenging that you’ll get lost, each one offers a new approach to an age-old immersive puzzle. And once you’ve made your way out, you can celebrate with a cob of that sweet, golden good stuff!

14. Eagle Acres Dairy Corn Maze

The Eagle Acres team planted 250,000 corn seeds to make this year’s maze! For area puzzle lovers, the gauntlet has been thrown down. If you decide you’re stumped, though, you can always spend the rest of your stay visiting over 200 farm animals on-site. However, they’ve been trained to refrain from sharing any hints about solving it.

15. Greendale Acres Corn Maze

Known for its artistic and intricate maze layouts, Greendale Acres is back this summer with another maze that will test your sense of direction! In partnership with 93.7 JR Country, the 2024 maze is a 10-acre tribute to country artist Luke Bryan that has to be seen to be believed! They also have a sunflower maze if you’re looking for an added challenge.

16. Sparkes Corn Barn/Produce Stand

Where else will you find a drive-thru corn stand? This unique Fraser Valley vendor will bring the cobs right to your window in a true example of warm country hospitality! At Sparkes, the corn is always fresh because they actually do a planting every few days, so you can get a cob at the peak of its flavour. Another plus: the Chilliwack location has a great new children’s play area with a massive jumping pillow, and the Agassiz location usually has sunflowers that you can cut and take home!

17. Summer Farm Event: Summer Harvest Series in Harrison

If you’re more into the feasting side of the summer season, this dinner series is a fantastic opportunity for genuine country fare. With each event, you’ll sample the region’s rich agriculture with farm-to-table menus while meeting new people. This month, you can pick between three dates: August 4 (Dinner on the Farm with Earthwise Society), August 9 (Long Table Dinner at the Fraser River Lodge), and August 28 (The Cheesemaker’s Table at Creekside Cheese and Creamery).

Following the Circle Farm Tour is just the ticket to awaken your senses. With stops all around the Fraser Valley, the self-guided tour of farm experiences is one of our favourite ways to welcome spring. 

There’ll be fresh flowers and produce, handmade treats with the best seasonal ingredients, and plenty of farm animal friends venturing out from the barn to say hello to, and this is just the beginning of the country charms you’ll find around the Valley this time of year. 1. Eagle Acres Farm

A local favourite for school groups and sightseers alike, this family-run dairy farm gives an engaging look at how milk is produced and how cows are cared for. And you can always make it a weekend of wine tasting by staying at one of their fabulous guest suites.

3. Milner Valley Cheese

If you’re keen to try a selection of farm-fresh cheeses, look no further! You’ll find this character-rich, 5th-generation heritage family farm and goat dairy nestled into the Milner Valley. Stop by and sample their award-winning cheeses: feta, chèvre, and specialty Milner Jack, a Colby-style cheese. They even have guided tours and a dedicated viewing area for when it’s time to milk— and trust us, these adorable goats will steal your heart! Milner Valley Cheese is just one of the stops you can make on the local cheese trail, a must-do for foodies in the area.

4. Greendale Acres

Spring has never been sweeter than at Greendale Acres. With a garden display with over 50 thousand bulbs planted in unique designs, visits with Lily the baby doll sheep, and events such as their 1st Annual Plant Swap or Star Wars Dress Up Day, there are so many things to do at this family farm that you might need to come back for another visit. It’s a sure bet for anyone looking for a magical spring experience.

5. Farmhouse Brewing Co.

If you’ve been itching to relax in the country sun with a local craft beer, then here’s a must-hit brewery patio for you. An impressive tap list, all made with fresh, local ingredients, makes this a beer lover’s paradise. The open green space with picnic tables is perfect for watching the kiddos run around, and the dog-friendly patio means even the furry family members can attend. Be sure to try out the Strawberry Rhubarb Sour or the U-Pick Radler for an added boost of springtime flavour. Wander through the aisles and then enjoy a picnic on the peaceful grounds while you ponder your next invention.

7. Homestead Cider

Boasting tasty cider made with farm-grown apples, Homestead has done an impeccable job capturing that fresh Fraser Valley flavour. The rolling rows of trees in the orchard speak to just how close you are to tasting the fruit right off the branch. Crack an icy bottle of Farmhouse Dry, or Wild Blackberry and wile away the day with a quaint view of the valley greenery.

8. Kilby Historic Site

A glimpse into life during the 1900s, these rural community grounds take you far from the land of ringtones and appointment reminders. Home to a heritage post office, hotel, and a 1906 general store museum complete with original merchandise, this historical site shows just what a bustling town Harrison Mills once was. Visitors can roll up their sleeves and learn the bygone skill of butter churning or even rope making, and for anyone looking to extend their stay a bit longer, the site has a beautiful lakeside camping area.

9. Harrison Lavender

There really is nothing quite like the smell of fresh lavender. The natural fragrance at Harrison Lavender is so refreshing you’ll wonder if you’ve been using your senses to their full capacity. Located on a small farm near Harrison Lake, the pastel-coloured field yields a variety of artisanal products such as soap, candles, lemonade, and even ice cream!

10. Taves Family Farm

The Taves family welcomes you to an authentic country experience with fruit picking, animals, and freshly made cider. Passed down through three generations, the farm has a homey feeling through and through as they frequently host family-friendly events. 11. Ripples Winery & New Wave Distillery

Let’s raise a glass to spring cocktail menus! Ripples is a stylish and relaxed winery/distillery that creates all kinds of sensational things to sip. A great date night option, the cozy bonfires offer premium quality time with someone special as you share a wine flight.

12. Windberry Farms’ Butterbox

A self-serve farm market stand, this little shop exudes the country philosophy of, “help yourself!” Based on the honour system, shoppers can stop in for fresh farm eggs, produce, honey, and fresh bread on Saturdays. They even accept credit and debit! If you haven’t been out of the city for a while, this little experience will put you into a more relaxed community vibe.
