Storm Relief Information & Updates

As everyone is aware, the Fraser Valley has been deeply impacted by the devastation of the weather events occurring in the past several days. Although the water has begun to recede, many communities continue to face evacuation orders and risk to life and property. Each community is facing its own unique set of challenges and has a variety of resources and updates available to assist those in need and those seeking more information. We have gathered information being offered from each community, please visit the buttons below to learn more. We would also like to reassure those who are wondering that the Abbotsford International Airport (YXX) is open, operating safely and unaffected by flooding. In addition, we have recently learned that Swoop airlines will be adding six flights between Abbotsford and Kelowna starting November 22nd to act as an ‘air bridge’ while infrastructure is being repaired.

We are so humbled and proud to see the outpouring of community support during these challenging times! On an hourly basis we are hearing heartwarming stories of neighbour helping neighbour and people opening their homes and offering support to those they don’t even know. We extend our heartfelt concern to all those affected and facing losses. We are also so extremely thankful to all the many volunteers and workers putting in so much time and effort providing rescue and support. The Fraser Valley is truly a special place to call home!

On a more serious note, we ask that you continue to respect that the Province of BC is in a state of emergency and to restrict travel to essential needs only. This will allow all first responders, emergency personnel, and government officials to focus on supporting those most in need and doing the work required to repair infrastructure and re-open supply chains. We look forward to welcoming visitors once it is safe to do so.
