The Rich Weiss Race is a staple race for the Club, held yearly. Slalom boats are not required for the race and many participants race in plastic boats. This race is open to slalom paddlers of all skill levels and features events in K1, C1, C2 and plastic boat class.
The race is named for American Olympian Richard Weiss who spent many years training with the Chilliwack Centre of Excellence at the Tamihi Rapids throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Rich left our small community too early in an incident on the White Salmon River in Washington a year after his tremendous 5th place performance at the 1996 Olympics.
The 2025 Rich Weiss will be held on April 27, 2025 at the CCE Paddling Club whitewater race site at the Tamihi Rapids, Chilliwack River.
Come out and cheer on our local paddlers and experience the excitement!
