Harrison River Valley

Events

Season of the Wild is a time to witness one of nature’s most powerful spectacles. From October through January, the Harrison River—Canada’s first certified salmon stronghold—comes alive as spawning salmon return to its waters. This vital, ecologically rich system supports one of the most productive salmon runs in the world.

Drawn by this abundance, tens of thousands of bald eagles gather in the region each winter, creating one of the largest concentrations of these raptors anywhere on the planet. Below the surface, ancient white sturgeon—some more than 100 years old—glide through the river’s depths, completing this extraordinary ecological story.

Trails, waterways, and quiet vantage points throughout the Harrison River Valley offer opportunities to observe this seasonal convergence of life, set against the misty forests and flowing waters of the wild.
