Summer Family Itinerary

Here in the Fraser Valley, we believe in keeping the same wild, carefree spirit of summertime throughout the entire year. There’s no shortage of fun activities for the young and the young at heart, in any community you choose to visit. Although some of these options are better suited for warmer months, many are open year round and offer special events and camps, too. Check ahead with each business before visiting to find out their hours of operation, procedures, and protocols. Read on to see our ultimate itinerary for a few days of family fun!


1./ HIT THE JUMPS AT THE HOPE BIKE PARK

Located in beautiful Kawakawa Lake the Hope Bike Park boasts pump tracks, dirt jumps, and  more for beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders. Don’t have a bike? Rentals are available from Hope Bike & Kayak Rentals! The picnic tables and seating area are a great place to take a break, enjoy a healthy lunch or for the parents and non riders to take in all of the action. Want to get in the action but the bike park is not your style? Enjoy the brand new disc golf course that runs parallel to the bike park!

2./ RENT A QUADRICYCLE TO EXPLORE HARRISON HOT SPRINGS

Located in the heart of Harrison Hot Springs, Jamie’s Quadricycles allows you explore the Village at your own pace.They have a variety of pedal-powered two, three, and four wheelers to choose from. Have a blast touring town in the Limo, that can seat four adults and two children and has four sets of pedals. There’s also the Model T that has two sets of pedals and seats two adults and a child; the Double Trike: a low rider that seats one adult and one child; the Single Trike; the single seat Ranger (go-kart style); and of course, regular mountain bikes.

3./ ENJOY LUNCH AT MUDDY WATERS CAFE

Eat local with Muddy Waters Cafe’s farm-to-table menu, locally roasted specialty coffees, and tasty home-made desserts. This licensed cozy cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating across from the beach. Or, take it to-go and enjoy your meal lakeside on the newly installed picnic benches right across the street. Don’t forget to grab a treat at Baskin Robbins or Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory after lunch!

4./ GET CREATIVE AT GALLERY 202 IN MISSION

Here the whole family can get creative, with everyone choosing their ceramic to paint, from cute animals to cheeky garden gnomes. Once complete you will leave it with the Gallery 202 team as they glaze and fire your creation turning it into a professional masterpiece for you to take home, and what makes this even better is you don’t have to worry about paint spillage in your home! Once you have brought it home the whole family will have a masterpiece to enjoy for years to come.

5./ STEP BACK IN TIME AT THE CANADIAN MUSEUM OF FLIGHT IN LANGLEY

Step back in time to discover aircrafts dating back to the First World War and learn about Canada’s role in aviation at the Canadian Museum of Flight. After checking out the aircraft and displays, make sure you visit the museum’s extensive aviation gift shop. The museum is a very “hands on” facility, meaning many aircrafts can be touched and some even allow kids to sit in the pilots seat!

6./ EXPLORE WHAT ROBOTS, COWS AND POO CAN DO AT ECODAIRY IN ABBOTSFORD

Offering a unique, highly interactive learning environment, the EcoDairy experience has been developed in partnership with Science World British Columbia. Families can take a barn tour, meet the cows, watch a robotic milker in action and try your hand at milking our mascot cow, Vicki. Explore the farm animal exhibit with goats, pigs and more, and enjoy the picnic grounds and u-pick berry area with a stunning view of Mt. Baker.

7./ GRAB A SLICE OF CHEESY GOODNESS AT BEETHOVEN’S PIZZA IN CHILLIWACK

Located in the heart of Cultus Lake Park, Beethoven’s Pizza is the perfect spot to grab lunch at the lake. Either eat there, or take it down to the beach to enjoy. Their unique rectangular pizza’s are baked to the perfect cheesy goodness to fuel you between activities!

8./ PADDLE CULTUS LAKE WITH MAIN BEACH BOAT RENTALS

Cool off on Cultus Lake with Main Beach Boat Rentals. Rent paddle boards, kayaks and pedal boats for you and the family. Choose from adult and kid sized paddle boards, single and double kayaks, pedal boats for 4 and life jackets for all sizes! A perfect activity at any time of day for the whole family – but we recommend the morning or evening for calmer waters. Visit them online for hours of operation.
