Sq’ewlets First Nation Sturgeon Trail

Sturgeon Trail is a short, scenic hike near Lake Errock, passing over Sq’ewlets First Nation land. The out-and-back trail is 720 metres from trailhead to peak (just over 1.4km in total) and takes roughly 1 hour to complete. The trail climbs uphill to a scenic viewpoint of Harrison Bay, where hikers can enjoy the view from bench seating or a picnic table. Various informational signs are present along the trail, offering anecdotes and stories about the land and the Sq’ewlets First Nation Peoples. The second half of the trail is quite steep (over 10% grade), but overall, the trail is relatively even. It is a zero-waste trail with no garbage cans or washrooms available, so hikers must pack-in, pack-out, and camping is not allowed. Sturgeon Trail is accessible to walkers, bikers, and on-leash dogs year-round.
