Summer in the Fraser Valley is chock full of exciting activity, but there’s also a time—and many, many places—to sit back and enjoy spirited sips locally brewed from the freshest ingredients a brewmaster could hope for, straight from the fertile ground they brew on. Here are just a few samples of incredible craft breweries and cideries in the Fraser Valley!

Langley Breweries & Cideries

  1. Fraser Valley Cider Company

Enjoy a crisp glass of traditionally crafted cider with sweeping mountain views on The Fraser Valley Cider Company’s patio—always open, rain or shine! Twenty-five varieties of apples are grown in the orchard next door, then married with local ingredients like blueberries and rhubarb to craft truly unique tastings. Enjoy with in-house baked potato chips or a charcuterie tin.

  1. Dead Frog Brewery

A family-owned brewery for over 10 years, Dead Frog Brewery puts a “hop” in the local scene in more ways than one. Choose from over 20 taps mere steps from the brew tanks in the beautiful tasting room. Enjoy a snack from the kitchen in which fresh, locally-sourced ingredients make perfect pairings to their beers. Time your visit right and catch some live music, trivia nights, and seasonal events!

Abbotsford Breweries

  1. Old Yale Brewing Abbotsford

Pioneers of the Fraser Valley craft brewery revolution, Old Yale Brewing have taken their tried and true formula and expanded on it mightily to create a unique tasting room experience at OYB Craft Brewery + Kitchen in historic Downtown Abbotsford. If a backyard hang with friends is your scene, this is your place! White picnic tables sit on wall-to-wall astroturf interspersed between shuffleboard tables and cornhole boxes to bring the great outdoors inside.

  1. Field House Brewing

Field House Brewing understands the blessed union of beer and a really good outdoor space. Their patio, or “beer lawn,” features lovely string lights, live music and vinyl lawn chairs to bask in all of that backyard bliss. The beer isn’t bad either, racking up numerous awards for creativity. That plus a stocked canteen of your favourite comfort foods makes for a pretty unbeatable summer’s afternoon.

Chilliwack Breweries

  1. Bricklayer Brewing

There’s always something happening in Chilliwack’s revitalized downtown thanks to Bricklayer Brewing, from stand-up comedy to drag shows to themed trivia nights to pair along with one of their delicious sips! A love of music is evident here, too, from frequent live shows to beers named after classic songs. Like all good jams, these taps are accompanied by reliable players; in this case, pub classics like baked pretzels, giant pickles and footlong hot dogs with all the fixins.

  1. Farmhouse Brewing Co.

Get down on the farm at Farmhouse Brewing Co. where farm-fresh ingredients go not only into tasty craft beers, but also a delicious menu coming out of the open wood-fired oven. Pizza, you say? Some of the best in the city. And a brewery on a working farm means the barley and hops don’t get fresher than the ones grown on-site! Sit back on their expansive patio and drink in the views of the fields that have brought you this quintessential Fraser Valley moment.

Mission Breweries

  1. HUBCo Brewing

With so much outdoor adventure in and around Mission it’s only fitting there be a place to come back to unwind and regale in the tales of the day. HUBCo Brewing brews their beer on-site and also features a healthy wine list and a rotating selection of cocktails (plus plenty of options free of alcohol.) A restaurant-sized food menu is as family-friendly as the loft lounge in which it’s offered, adorned with oversized couches and large windows to catch the sunset.

  1. Mission Springs Brewing Company

Brewing since 1996,  Mission Springs Brewing Company is one of BC’s oldest breweries. Part brewery, part pub means “The Springs” is a preferred local hangout for good beer, good food and good conversation. And for those who like their hangs with little more play, the beach volleyball court is ready for action on any given summer day. Get in the game or sit back and enjoy the action overlooking the Fraser River!

Harrison Cideries

  1. Homestead Cider

In the fertile valley between Mount Cheam and Bear Mountain sits a charming family-run farm that happens to make delicious craft cider. From their grandfather’s property settled in the 70s, the brother-sister team behind Homestead Cider has built a hidden gem tucked far from the bustle of city life. Enjoy their unique takes on apple cider on the grass, along with stunning views of both peaks, at this family and dog-friendly hot spot!

  1. Cedar Cider

There’s a world of taste happening at Cedar Cider. Cider-maker Gabriel Jeffries studied gastronomic sciences in Italy, the UK, South Korea, Ireland, and South Africa before coming home to Harrison Mills to put all he learned into small batches of natural ciders with his partner Jacquelyn and brother Daniel. They are enjoying their first summer in their delightful tasting room and patio where you can enjoy the “fruits” of their travels on weekends throughout the summer.

Hope, Cascades & Canyons

  1. Mountainview Brewing Co.

True to its name, Mountainview Brewing Co. sits directly below a beautiful towering peak of the Cascades Mountains in a converted machine shop off the Old Hope Princeton Highway. The large, airy taproom has a nice view of the brewery and a stocked kitchen featuring Mexican street food staples and other bar snack favourites. Their calendar is packed with events for you and your fun-lovin’ pals too, including karaoke, singles game nights and Name That Tune!
