In the Fraser Valley, every day is Family Day! While the official statutory holiday lands on February 17th this year, there are plenty of ways to celebrate families in the Valley all year long – even when the weather won’t co-operate. Chilliwack
1. Project Climbing
This bouldering gym is a fantastic way to test your mental and physical fitness, and spend time with family too! 2. Chilliwack Museum
There’s a good reason why this local museum is a frequent field trip destination. As you walk through exhibits and historical photos, you’ll trip back in time to when Chilliwack was just a fledgling community. See how far things have come and trace all the steps along the way.
3. Great Blue Heron Reserve
Animal lovers will delight in exploring the largest nesting colony of great blue herons in BC. Stop by the Interpretive Centre, which hosts regular exhibits aimed at kids of all ages, to discover more about nature conservation and our vital relationships with our feathered friends.




Abbotsford
4. Castle Fun Park
Castle Fun Park is a paradise for anyone who still takes pride in getting a high score. Their sprawling arcade and entertainment center has everything from pinball to whack-a-mole, so you’re sure to stumble upon an old favourite. Add in underwater mini-golf, bumper cars, a laser maze and go-karts—this is the pinnacle of indoor play.
5. Trethewey House
Built in 1919 for a B.C. lumber baron, each room in this heritage site has been kept in pristine condition. Wander the grounds and take in the period carriage house, garden and train station. The site also contains an exhibit detailing how the Stó:lō people of the area were affected by the European settlers of the time.
6. EcoFarm
Kids will love spending time with their families – and some farm animals too! – on a real working farm. Book a guided tour to learn all about raising animals, growing feed, and running a dairy. And at the end, enjoy some farm-fresh ice cream!




Langley
7. Canadian Museum of Flight
A museum dedicated solely to beautiful flying machines, this impressive collection has aircraft from various times throughout history. Little ones will marvel at the impressive size and design of each plane—the perfect chance for a memorable photo.
8. Vancouver Giants Game
Watch the hockey stars of tomorrow face off at the Langley Events Centre. With tickets as low as $24.95, there’s always a reason to cheer this season. Visit the in-arena White Spot for dinner so you don’t miss a minute of the game!
9. BC Farm Museum
The Fraser Canyon is rich in farming history, and there’s no better place to learn all about it than at one of the lower mainland’s most fascinating museums. See antique equipment and hear the stories of the people who dedicated their lives to feeding the surrounding communities. *Please note that their re-open date is April 1.




Harrison River Valley
10. Starlight Skating Rink
Is there a more quintessential Canadian winter family activity than outdoor skating? Starlight Skating Rink is open daily from 10 AM to 9 PM, with its final day of operation for the season being Family Day, February 17. Enjoy free access—just bring your ice skates to glide, twirl, or do everything you can to stay upright, all under gorgeous starry skies.
11. Agassiz Harrison Museum
Housed in one of Canada’s oldest CPR stations, this collection spans local biographies, antique maps, and newspapers dating back to 1923. It’s an impressive archive of the past and an excellent spot to unplug and reflect on the importance of family and community throughout BC’s history.
12. Sasquatch Mountain Resort
Enjoy some of the best powder in the region, without the crowds of larger resorts. Four chairlifts serve 36 runs with varied difficulties to satisfy all levels of “daredevil” in your family. You’ll also find great snow tubing, snowshoeing, and cozy lodges with stunning mountain views.

13. HMI Skate Park
HMI Skate Park is Hope’s indoor skate park, where skaters of all ages and skill levels can drop into the world of skateboarding. The owner, Hippie Mike, has created a fantastic place for skaters to come hang out and enjoy the plethora of ramps, rails, and more! The friendly and welcoming community makes for a fun experience for anyone, from beginners to pros.
14. Manning Park Resort
Just 45 minutes east of Hope, 34 runs over 356 pristine acres serve downhill skiers, while cross-country skiers can glide through 14 trails through snow-covered forests. After a day on the slopes, trade in your skis for some blades and take a waltz around the skating rink under twinkling stars.
